English Premier League strugglers Bolton have successfully appealed against England defender Gary Cahill\'s sending off in Saturday\'s 3-0 defeat by Tottenham. Cahill, who turns 26 later this month, was shown a straight red card by referee Stuart Attwell after just 17 minutes for a challenge on fellow England international Scott Parker. Attwell ruled Cahill had denied Parker an \"obvious goalscoring opportunity\" even though the Spurs man was some 50 yards away from goal. However, a Football Association statement Tuesday said: \"Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill has had his claim for wrongful dismissal upheld. \"As a result, the one-match suspension handed to him has been withdrawn.\" Bolton manager Owen Coyle -- who is under pressure as defeat left his side second from bottom and with just three wins in 14 matches this season -- was furious with the decision. \"To say I am angry about it is a bit of an understatement,\" he said after the match. \"I am totally bemused by the decision. \"Maybe it was a free-kick or a yellow card, but not a red. \"If you understand the terminology it has to be a clear goalscoring opportunity. \"Now Scott Parker is a fantastic player but he took a touch with his left foot, went out to the wing, 50 yards from goal. We had Zat Knight in the middle and other defenders coming back. \"So there was nothing clear on a goalscoring opportunity. I think everyone in the stadium was baffled it was given.\"
