Brest claimed an incredible 15th draw in 26 matches this Ligue 1 season as they took a point from their goalless finish at Caen. The visitors have still not recorded a win away from home this season, but this was their seventh draw on the road as they remained two points above the Normandy club, however Brest's day was marred by a red card late on for Jonathan Zebina. Caen created the first opening when Gregory Proment's free-kick was headed just wide by Thomas Heurtaux in the third minute. Former Caen man Benoit Lesoimier carved out Brest's first chance, taking on his marker and crossing from the right, but Alexis Thebaux was in the right place to gather Bruno Grougi's near-post effort as the Brest man went in search of his seventh goal of the season. Grougi drilled a shot just wide in the 33rd minute, again following good work by Lesoimier, and Caen ended the half by going close as Nicolas Seube found Romain Hamouma out wide. He cut in from the right but his left-footed shot was just wide of the near post. Hamouma came close again two minutes into the second period with a shot which Brest goalkeeper Steeve Elana did well to keep out with a block. Livio Nabab was then presented with arguably the best chance of the game when he latched onto a defence-splitting pass but Elana won their one-on-one duel in the 64th minute. Lesoimier's impressive performance was almost capped by a stunning individual goal after he dribbled past Alexandre Raineau and Seube and fired a shot just wide of Thebaux's right-hand post midway through the half. The last chance of note fell to Caen as Frederic Bulot beat Paul Baysse on the left and crossed for Nabab lurking by the penalty spot, but his left-footed strike was off-target. Brest ended the match with ten men as Zebina was sent off for elbowing Nabab in an aerial duel.
