Ajax has reached an agreement with Robert van Koesveld. The defender signed a contract in Amsterdam which is effective on June 1 2012 and runs for three seasons, until June 30, 2015. Van Koesveld was born on January 24, 1995, in The Hague. The 17 year old youth international comes from sc Heerenveen. He was previously active at Quick in The Hague. “This is great”, said Van Koesveld after signing. “This is a step up for me. I didn’t have to think about it for long, but I did discuss the decision with several people. I can develop even more at Ajax.” The youth player has been playing in sc Heerenveen’s youth academy for a few years. “I started at Quick, which was around the corner from my house. I’ve been playing at Heerenveen since I was thirteen years old. This is a nice next step.” Wim Jonk: “In him, we see a player who is very interesting for Ajax. In terms of defence and build up, he’s a player of the future. This guy deserves a lot of attention. We have specialists who can bring him to the next level. If he does well, he could join A1 next season.”
