Syrian trucks are being held at the Arida crossing Beirut – Georges Chahine Dozens of fuel tankers transporting diesel from Syria to Lebanon have been halted on the border, according to security sources on Friday. Tankers looking to transfer large quantities of diesel fuel from Beirut are currently parked on the Syrian side of the Arida border crossing, following attacks on transported vehicles in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli on Thursday. Fears that further attacks could target Syrian trucks have halted the transaction. Crowds of young people attacked Syrian tankers in Tripoli’s Bab al-Tabbaneh on Thursday, burning three vehicles and damaging four others.
