Arab expert on Traffic Awareness cum Media Advisor in the General Directorate of Traffic (GDT), Mr. Abdul-Aziz Buhiji, said that the back-to-school traffic campaign focuses on schoolchildren to ensure their safety on the way to and from school. He said the Directorate cooperates with the Ministry of Education to develop traffic awareness among students in association with their parents. Speaking on ‘Al Amn’ Radio programme last Thursday, Mr Buhiji stressed that to ensure the safety of students, school buses should have automatic doors, stop in front of a school and there should be a lady supervisor in each bus to maintain discipline. Head of Traffic Accidents Division Major Mohammed Al-BinKhalil highlighted the keenness of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior on having a complete plan to curb traffic congestions. He also stressed on the seven conditions which every driver transporting students must satisfy. These are that he/she should be a Bahraini national, have at least five years experience in private vehicle driving, have a good conduct, should not be employed in any government or public office, should have a public transportation driver\'s licence, should have completed the traffic safety course run by the Traffic Directorate and should have passenger insurance against accidents.
