Tropical Storm Nanauk which had developed in Arabian Sea weakened and became a deep tropical depression that continued to move toward west - northwest to the sultanate of Oman coast in the past six hours at 10 km/hr, said the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) in an advisory Friday citing the latest weather prediction charts and the latest weather reports from the regional centres.
The deep tropical depression is currently centered at latitude 19.0 North and longitude 63.0 East with a distance about 470 km away from Masirah Island with an estimated surface wind speed between 28 33 knots, NCMS said adding that the weather model charts don t show any direct effect of this depression on U.A.E. for the next three upcoming days.
According to some of numerical weather prediction charts, the deep tropical depression is expected to move further west to northwest toward the coast of Oman on Sunday 15th June.
The forecasters said there is a chance of different intensities of rain over the provinces of Southeast, middle, Northeast, and parts of Muscat provinces and Al-Hajr Mountains.
