The ninth edition of the ‘My Environment, My National Responsibility’ exhibition for children over five years and their families, organised by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, MoCCAE, will open its doors on Wednesday at the Creek Park in Dubai.
Strategic partners of the initiative include the Ministry of Energy, Dubai Municipality, Fujairah Municipality, the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, EAD, and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA.
Set to run from 20th to 23rd December, the event targets families and children in the UAE and will highlight six main areas; the environmental achievements of the founding father of the UAE, late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the basics of agriculture, endangered animals, saving water and energy, waste sorting and recycling, and preserving the UAE’s marine life.
Aimed at introducing children to the concepts of sustainability of natural resources and environmental conservation, the exhibition will comprise eight themed pavilions: Zayed – Man of the Environment, Little Farmer, Forest, Sustainable City, Heroes of the Sea, Waste Sorting, Little Scientist, and Cinema.
Taif Al Amiri, Director of the Government Communication Department at MoCCAE, said, "The ‘My Environment, My National Responsibility’ exhibition seeks to develop a sense of responsibility towards the environment across the UAE society, especially among the young generation. The event intends to motivate the public to play a greater role in protecting the environment and ensuring sustainability – one of the main objectives of the National Environmental Education and Awareness Strategy 2015-2021."
She added, "The exhibition is the result of collaborative efforts of the Ministry and its strategic partners to promote sustainable lifestyle, environmental awareness, and preservation of the country’s natural resources for future generations. This year’s edition is expected to attract around 2,000 visitors
