Director General of Yemen’s Technical Education revealed that there are major challenges facing the education sector in the country during the current period due to the lack of possibilities and equipment. He blamed the current war witnessed in the country for the challenges.
He added that the existed equipment need maintenance, while the government cannot provide the financial liquidity to achieve this objective, saying that they also suffer from the lack of the necessary materials required to operate the equipment in addition to the lack of electricity.
He added, during an interview with “Arab Today”, that the “Yehia El-Houthi” the current Yemeni minister of Education is not qualified for his position, adding that the last lacks the simplest Academic standards to fulfill his tasks.
He warned that the education in Yemen is vulnerable to the polarization status in the country, the thing that will destroy any attempts to build a modern state, adding that bad education will produce generation that can only fight, asserting that the authority lacks any care for the educational process in Yemen.
He said that the educational process in Yemen is still traditional depending on the historic events estimated from the folklore and the opinions of the religious men, adding that education did not evolve into a modern free from the classical effects.
As an educational official, I can say that all the previous governments, the upcoming governments for that matter, did not care for education, despite the fact that everyone knows the importance of education, especially the vocational one, he said.
He added that the lack of the cultural elites addressing the education problem, beside the civil war and the fighting over power are all factors aiding the deterioration of education, asserting that students are leaving schools to join the war as it is more profitable in a country suffering from poverty.
