The U.A.E. has broken the Guinness Book of World Record of most people carrying a flag banner with a participation of 2139 Emirati students from the Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute, ADVETI, and incorporation with Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club.
Marking the celebrations of the 43rd U.A.E. National Day, thousands of Emirati students walked a span of 230 meters carrying the U.A.E. flag, measuring two kilometres long and five meters wide, at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club.
"The extraordinary feat achieved by our young Emirati students has enabled us to take the country's honour and name on the world map once again," said Dr. Addel Al Ameri, Managing Director at Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute ADVETI. "This monumental moment that has gone down in our history is a gift to our pride and leader President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan." "Today has been a spectacular display of pride and unity by our students. We, at ADVETI, always strive to remain committed in our efforts in the growth and progress of our students. And this record breaking accomplishment has showcased our pride and love for the nation," said Abdulrahman Al Hammadi, Senior Director at ADVETI.
He added, "ADVETI always try to contribute to the nation's development and growth through heart and soul. In addition, the breaking of world record for the most number of people carrying a flag requires discipline and hard-work from our students. Our diligent students have made this accomplishment come to reality and we will continue to carry the name and honour of our country and taking it to new heights." The achievement by ADVETI students smashed the previous record of Italy set in 2011, which boasted of 1,795 participants carrying a 1.797 kilometre long and 4.8 meter wide flag. Officials from the Guinness World Records measured the length and breadth of the flag as well as counted the number of participants, confirming that the record had been broken.
Adnan Sultan Al Nuaimi, Managing Director of Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club said: "It is an honour for us to be part in helping the U.A.E. achieve another world record. We are thrilled to see the young Emirati generation contribute in elevating their country's name worldwide, which adds a rich flavour to the event."
