Mauritanian Mutannabi is the writer who compose poetry,and the political who was detained and lived in exile
In an exclusive interview with Arabs Today, Nagi Mohamed dealt with the principles of literature and politics, the culture of power, the power, the culture, the poet's relations with political parties and his opinion in the cultural and literary scene in his country.
At the beginning of the meeting, Nagi introduced himself as a writer tries to write differently for people and about people, justice, and love, his dream of vigilant revolution, Arab unity, bread, colorful books and new clothes for the children of ordinary people.
Concerning the relationship between culture and power, Nagi said that he did not know any relation between them, where the power remained in practicing its domination and the culture licking what remains from its shoes.
Mauritanians marked before the establishment of the state with the elitist culture which contrary to the classification saying that the desert is backwardness' environment and the urban is science's environment, he said.
Nagi Mohammad Imam is one of the most prominent of the founding fathers of Mauritanian Writers Union but he now is out of this union. When you ask him why, he answers only saying: "I respect all of union's members, but I belong to a stream of creativity that resides under the foundation of the general union of Mauritanian writers, but he preferred to talk about it at its time."
He says that he has three novels submitted for printing some time ago but there are obstacles in publishing, so he hopes to overcome these obstacles or search for alternative publisher.
I am bringing the political concern since the fifth year in the elementary school, which was the first time in which I arrested, he said.
I contributed in forming of several movements and political parties, most recently marked by the union for the republic party, he stated.
