UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon strongly condemns the suicide bombing that targeted a park in Pakistan Sunday and killed at least 60 people and wounded more than 100, Ban's spokesperson said Monday.
The spokesperson said in the statement that Ban called for the perpetrators of "this appalling terrorist act" at Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park in Lahore to be quickly brought to justice. according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The statement said that the UN chief urged the Pakistani government to put in place protective measures to ensure the security of all individuals, including religious minority communities living in the country.
Ban also extended condolences to victims and their families and expressed solidarity with the government and people of Pakistan, SPA reported..
