The religious committee at the House of Representatives Friday condemned the failed assassination attempt against Egypt's former mufti Ali Gomaa.
Speaking to MENA, head of the committee Osama el Abd said: “What happened is prohibited by Islam as well as all other religions.”
He added that all of Gomaa’s opinions are based on Islamic teachings, stressing the importance of renewing the religious discourse.
Gomaa survived an attempted shooting as he was entering a mosque in the 6th of October city, where he was present to lead the weekly prayers. His personal bodyguard was slightly injured.
