The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, OIC, has expressed condemnation of the terrorist attack on a security training centre in the Libyan city of Zliten on 7th of January, which claimed the lives of innocent citizens. OIC Secretary-General, Iyad Ameen Madani, conveyed sincere condolences to and sympathy with the relatives of the victims and the Libyan people, wishing for a speedy recovery to the wounded.
According to the OIC website, Madani reiterated his call on all Libyan parties to commit to the implementation of the terms of the UN-sponsored political agreement concluded in Skhirat, Kingdom of Morocco, on 17th December, 2016. He called on them to speed up the process of forming a government of national unity capable of addressing the security and economic challenges facing the country while committing to unity and solidarity in confronting extremism and terrorism, consolidating reconstruction efforts to bring about peace for the interest of the Libyan people and contribute to the restoration of security and stability in the region.
