The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants condemned the gun attack that targeted on Monday Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Lebanese ministry asserted its full rejection of this cowardly terrorist attack.
The Lebanese ministry stressed that targeting diplomats - as a desperate attempt to convey political messages - would not deter countries, which see diplomacy and dialogue as the way to settle disputes, from persisting in their work to maintain security worldwide and in combating challenges that face the international community, atop of which is terrorism.
This terrorist attack is a dangerous crime aimed at harming the Russian-Turkish ties and thwarting ongoing efforts to find a solution to the Syrian crisis, the statement went on to say.
In this regard, Lebanon voiced full solidarity with Russia in confronting extremism and terrorism, noted the statement.
Meanwhile, Lebanon's Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri deplored the terrorist attack on the Russian ambassador in Ankara.
This operation would increase Russia's determination to manage its war on terrorism, Berri said in a cable of condolences he sent to Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.
The Lebanese parliament speaker sent a similar cable to chairperson of the Russian Federal Council Valentina Matviyenko.
