The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has condemned the attack on Nasa Hablod Hotel in Mogadishu, Somalia.
A statement from the East African bloc on Sunday said "it is with deep sorrow that the Intergovernmental Authority on Development learnt of the terror attack carried out by the Al Shabaab on June 25, 2016 at the Nasa Hablod Hotel in which innocent people lost their lives."
IGAD condemned "in the strongest words possible the senseless violence incurred by this terror group known as a desperate group who has no respect for human life," said the statement.
IGAD offered its heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Somalia and to the families who lost their loved ones.
It also wished speedy recovery to those who were injured in the attack at the Nasa Hablod Hotel.
Death toll from the attack has risen to 16 and a state minister was among those killed. More than 30 others were injured, according to spokesman for the Ministry of Internal Security, Abdikamil Mo'allim Shukri on Sunday
