The Arab League has condemned Tuesday's terrorist attack in the Afghani city of Kandahar, which left five UAE officials dead and injured the UAE ambassador to Afghanistan.
Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit stressed the pan-Arab organization's strong backing for the UAE in face of such cowardly terrorist acts, expressing sincere condolences to UAE's leadership, government and people, an Arab League statement said.
He added that the crime yet again sheds light on the sizable threat of terrorism, especially with the attack targeting civilians carrying out humanitarian and development work in Afghanistan as part of the UAE's support system for Afghanistan in building state institutions and improving life and humanitarian conditions for the Afghani people.
Aboul Gheit stressed the need to urgently work on prosecuting the perpetrators of the attack, while intensifying international efforts to combat terrorism and take more procedures to achieve more effectiveness and seriousness in this regard.
