Defense Minister Sedqy Sobhy has lauded the heroic role of the Third Field Army personnel in fighting criminals and outlaws in Sinai, safeguarding the Suez Canal and cooperating with police to maintain the country's unity and stability.
During a meeting with a number of army commanders, soldiers and Sinai chieftains, Sobhy said the army will remain the country's bulwark for national security.
He said the armed forces have vowed to protect their homeland.
He also voiced appreciation to South Sinai tribes and clans for their support for the army in its war against terror in order to restore security and stability in Sinai.
On Monday, Sobhy attended an Iftar banquet with the Third Field Army personnel and honored distinguished officers and soldiers.
Last Thursday, the army waged a war against terror in Sinai on the back of attacks on five checkpoints in Sinai. Scores of army personnel and terrorists were killed and injured.
