Global Village attracted a large number of visitors on the first day of DSF, which coincided with New Year's day, drawing 100,000 people.
Global Village has seen an upsurge of visitor numbers through the start of its season from November 6 with the inclusion of brand new entertainment shows, an extended and bigger area, more rides and restaurants, and new country pavilions enhancing the shopping and entertainment experience for its guests.
Global Village is also one of the key sponsors of the Dubai Shopping Festival. In fact, they are two of the most well-known local brands in the expertise of shopping and family entertainment and have been closely associated over the years.
The 20th year of DSF is expected to attract millions of visitors through January and Global Village has planned many special events including a DSF parade, uniquely conceptualised DSF shows for families and children, over 10 concerts and a lot more variety in the fun and entertainment segments for families.
The entertainment, amongst many others, will include Stomp Drummers – a performance in which the performers use a variety of everyday objects as percussion instruments in their show; Acapella Soul – a very popular street performing singing group from New York; Dancing Painters – a group of multi-talented artists who paint while dancing; and the Musical Spectacular with classic musical hits from Mary Poppins to Aladdin to enthral children and families alike.
Global Village has also announced the extension of its opening hours from 4pm until 1am on weekdays and until 2am on weekends and public holidays, in celebration with the 20th anniversary of the Dubai Shopping Festival.
