NMC's Director General Ibrahim Al Abed (L)
Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

The National Media Council (NMC), and the Emirates Publishers Association (EPA), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that aims to develop the publishing sector in the country, and strengthen partnership and cooperation between the two parties.
The MoU comes as part of the federal government's strategy to coordinate efforts among government departments and provide quality service to its customers.
The deal was signed by NMC's Director General, Ibrahim Al Abed, and Jamal Al Shehhi, Chairman of the EPA. During the meeting, the two sides discussed the publishing sector in the U.A.E., and the role that the Council and Association play in supporting the cultural movement in the country.
The Council also showcased its role in monitoring media content and the services it provides to the publishers, as well as expressing its profound support to young writers.
The NMC expressed its belief in the EPA's efforts when it comes to strengthening the national identity, saying that the launch of the EPA in 2009 has significantly contributed to the development of the publishing industry in the country.
On his part, EPA's Al Shehhi said that this strategic partnership showcases the Council's keenness to develop U.A.E.'s publishing sector, and its intentions to keep up with the aspirations of Emirati publishers and intellectuals, which, Al Shehhi noted, will enhance the U.A.E's cultural and intellectual presence in the international platform.
The Chairman also commended the role that the NMC plays in overcoming challenges and facilitating access to publishing.
