The Ras Al Khaimah Police have managed to arrest four Arab residents within 24 hours after they robbed a shop of Dh21,000.
Brigadier Abdullah Ali Menakhas, director of the criminal investigation department, on Thursday said they immediately rushed to the site after being alerted about the robbery.
"Investigation showed that the gang had broken the back door to enter the shop and forced open a safe, in which the money was kept."
An investigation team was formed to collect the evidence and the team managed to identify one of the robbers."
The suspect, who had a criminal record, was staying in Ajman, Brig Menakhas stated.
"The accused admitted to having robbed the money in accomplice with three compatriots. The trio was later detained from an apartment in Ajman," he added.
The suspects with criminal records earlier served jail terms for their previous robberies and were deported from the country, said the official, adding that they managed to return to the country illegally."
They have been referred to the RAK Public Prosecution.
Brig Menakhas urged all shop owners to take precautionary measures to protect their outlets to prevent burglaries.
"All shopkeepers are advised not to leave cash or valuable items in their shops, and immediately report any suspicious acts by anyone close to their shops."
Meanwhile, a surprise inspection campaign has been launched to check if all the shops in the emirate have installed the mandatory surveillance cameras.
