The weight of avarice is unsparing. The Pakistan Prime Minister should have respected that age-old argument. But he did not and paid for that cussed, indigestive and odious unethical stand. He paid and paid heavily with position and with authority. And, of course, with honour.
By doing so he clearly abused the trust of millions of voters, some of whom wake up at the crack of dawn each day hoping to see a healthier dawn.
Their last hope has always been the leaders they elect to power. The premier unfortunately ignored that wailing desire. He broke their hearts and blew the fabric of democracy to smithereens. After months of political drama and court proceedings, the verdict that millions of Pakistanis had been eagerly waiting for came last morning.
