Police on Monday arrested a tribal man on charge of killing his wife, who allegedly hacked their daughter to death in an inebriated state, police said.
Laxman Khara, a tribal man, has confessed to have killed his wife Bati Khara after she under influence of liquor allegedly hacked their 5-year-old daughter to death, said Malkangiri Police Station inspector-in charge (IIC) Ranjan Kumar Sahu.
The incident took place at Giriguda village under Biralaxmanpur gram panchayat last night. Bati Khara, who was under the influence of liquor, allegedly beat up daughter Ajnali and son Pabitra when they asked for food.
While daughter Anjali died on the spot, son Pabitra was rushed to nearby government hospital. The son's condition is stated to be critical.
After Laxman came home and enquired about the matter, his wife confessed about committing the act following which a heated exchange of words ensued between the two.
Losing his cool, Laxman hit Bati s head with a cudgel killing her on the spot.
