Kenyan security officers have thwarted a planned terrorist attack by suspected al-Shabaab militants, authorities said Sunday.
In a sting operation on Friday, Kenyan officers arrested two Kenyan nationals and four Somalis as they tried to cross the border between the two countries, dpa quoted Inspector General Joseph Boinnet as saying in a statement.
The men were apprehended carrying four suicide vests, explosive devices and more materials to make bombs. The men are being questioned, said Boinnet. Kenyan officials believe the suspects are operating as part of a terror network.
The operation was carried out in collaboration with the Somali government.
