Counterfeit car spare parts worth over Dh36 million were seized in 20 raids conducted across the UAE in nine months. The raids were conducted by various government departments in partnership with Al Futtaim Motors.
In order to help raise awareness on the dangers of counterfeit car parts, the company conducted a series of trainings, helping over 240 government officials in Dubai and Abu Dhabi differentiate between genuine and fake Toyota parts and provided the right tools to further educate the public about the importance of using genuine parts.
In partnership with the Dubai Police, it also conducted two exhibitions in the third quarter at two shopping malls, to educate the public about the risk involved in using fake car parts, and to help them spot suspicious products sold by unauthorised distributors.
Saud Abbasi, managing director of Toyota at Al Futtaim Motors, said: "Fake parts are not produced by certified manufacturers, hence they don't meet any of the safety and quality standards set by the manufacturer. Customers need to be informed of the importance of buying only genuine parts for their vehicles, at authorised dealers, otherwise they could be putting themselves, their loved ones and the public at risk."
