Five men have been arrested in Abu Dhabi after police caught them with 3.6 million pills of Captagon drugs.
The Abu Dhabi Police on Sunday said the pills were seized in two separate incidents and that the dealers had plans to promote the drugs among youngsters.
Major General Maktoum Ali Al Sharifi, director general of Abu Dhabi Police, said the anti-narcotics teams have special skills in detecting and tracking down drug dealers. They have on a number of occasions thwarted attempts to smuggle or promote narcotics in the country, he pointed out.
"The swift action taken by the Abu Dhabi Police against the drug dealers and promoters show the force's vigilance and readiness in combating crimes and its endeavour to maintain the security and stability in the country," said Al Sharifi.
In another incident, two Arab nationals were arrested after cops nabbed them with 612,000 narcotic pills while trying to promote the drugs in the Emirates.
