Abu Dhabi Police nab duo, seize 10,000 drug pills

Two men possessing 10,000 narcotic pills were arrested following an undercover police operation.

The Abu Dhabi Police said on Wednesday that the Arab men, aged 36 and 22, were held after the force found out that they were promoting the illegal pills via social media networks and targeting youngsters in the UAE.

The police's anti-narcotics department had formed a specialized team and launched an operation named 'Steel Fist' which investigated the matter and identified the suspects.

Colonel Taher Gharib Al Dhahri, head of the anti-narcotic department at the Criminal Security Directorate, said a police undercover agent, disguising as a customer, contacted the 36-year-old man and told him he wanted to buy narcotic pills from him. The suspect agreed to sell him 3,000 psychotropic pills at Dh5,5000.

And when the Arab man came to the meeting place to seal the deal, police caught him as he handed the narcotic pills to the undercover agent in exchange for the cash.

The man also led policemen to his Arab partner, who had come to the UAE on a visit visa. He was found at his residence while possessing 7,000 narcotic pills. Police seized all the drugs from the men.
