A woman who lost her arm in a freak Metro accident had a successful reattachment surgery earlier this week.
The woman, identified as Angeline Fernando, lost her right arm during after she was caught between two trains of the Philippines' Metro Rail Transit.
According to Cesar Chavez, local transport undersecretary, Fernando had a successful operation on Wednesday morning at the Makati Medical Centre, Rappler reported.
Local doctors performed a gruelling operation on Fernando to reconnect her arm. This operation involved reconnecting the bone, nerves and vessels. She is currently under observation at a local hospital.
According to several eyewitnesses, Fernando fainted as she was getting off the train and fell onto the railway tracks - getting caught between the first and second train cars when her right arm was cut off.
Fellow passengers said that only 4 inches of her arm was left. The train's operations were disrupted as security helped her seek first aid.
Chavez added that the management of the Metro Rail Transit will help her with her medical bills.
