A civilian was killed and 11 others wounded in bomb attacks in central and northern Iraq on Tuesday, the police said. In Iraq\'s northern province of Kirkuk, a roadside bomb explosion destroyed a pick-up truck at a village near the town of al-Ryiadh, some 30 km southwest of the provincial capital city of Kirkuk, killing a civilian and wounding two others aboard, a local police source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. In a separate incident, a civilian was injured when a roadside bomb struck his car in a village near al-Rashad town, just south of Kirkuk city, some 250 km north of Baghdad, the source said. A booby-trapped car went off when an Iraqi army patrol passed by in Taji area near Baghdad, some 20 km north of the capital, wounding three soldiers and five passers-by, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. Separately, another car bomb went off in al-Mashaheda town, 40 km north of Baghdad, without causing casualties, the source said. Sporadic attacks are still common in Iraqi cities despite the dramatic decrease of violence over the past few years.
