Jordan has underlined the importance of confronting terrorism and extremism, which are being promoted by terrorist organizations that do not represent humanity or Islam.
Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Hayel Dawood told a UN General Assembly session in New York today, which was dedicated to addressing the role of religions in promoting peace, that all monotheistic religions call for the good and happiness of mankind, noting that any use of religion to cause harm to humans has nothing to do with the true religion.
Dawood affirmed that Jordan is a role model in coexistence between Muslims and Christians, adding that the kingdom calls for coexistence with other religions.
Jordan, he added, was at the forefront of countries that called to protect youths from terrorism and extremis, while noting an initiative by HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah on youth security and peace.
The minister also called for holding regular meetings between scholars and religious men from different religions to build bridges of understanding and coexistence among following of the various religions.
