The death toll from the worst wildfires in Chile's history has risen to 11, after a 60-year-old man was found dead outside the city of Constitucion.
The man, whose wife remains missing, was the latest victim of the devastating fires, which have killed ten others over the past two weeks, including five firefighters and two police officers.
The burn area has doubled over the past two days to 3,870 square kilometers, according to the national forestry agency CONAF - an area larger than the island of Majorca.
It said 130 fires were still burning in the center and south of the country, with 61 out of control. High temperatures of more than 35 degrees Celsius and strong winds also were hindering attempts to douse them.
Around 4,000 Chilean firefighters have been deployed to fight the flames, which have devoured 11,000 houses, while another 500 have been sent from France, Peru, Portugal, Spain, Colombia and Argentina.
On Wednesday the world's largest fire-fighting plane, a "supertanker" with a capacity of 72 tons of water, began deployment near the town of Hualane.
Russia has also agreed to send an Ilyushin Il-76 commercial freighter.
CONAF has said that at least some of the fires may have been deliberately lit, but on Friday four men who had been arrested on suspicion of arson in O'Higgins, one of the worst affected regions, were released by a judge for lack of evidence.
