Terrorist group Daesh claimed responsibility for the terror attack that killed nine people, including a Canadian tourist and several police officers, earlier this week in Jordan.
A statement issued by official Daesh news agency said four gunmen launched an assault on local security forces and citizens of the anti-Daesh coalition” in the city of Karak, south of the capital Amman.
The assailants, who carried machine guns and hand grenades, assaulted a historical castle near Karak and clashed with Jordanian security forces for several hours, Daesh claimed. All four attackers were killed.
