Colombia\'s largest rebel group said Tuesday that it has named a new leader to succeed late Guillermo Leon Saenz, alias \"Alfonso Cano,\" who was killed earlier this month by government forces. Rodrigo Londono, alias \"Timoleon Jimenez\" or \"Timochenko,\" has been elected new commander of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), said the group in a statement. \"Timochenko,\" 52, joined FARC in 1982. Recently he was commander of the \"Middle Magdalena Block\" in the north. \"Timochenko\" was last seen in 2008 when he announced through a video the death of \"Manuel Marulanda,\" leader and founder of the FARC guerrilla group. \"Alfonso Cano\" was killed on Nov. 4 in an operation by Colombian security forces in the Cauca department in the country\'s southwest. FARC is Colombia\'s largest rebel group and has been at war with the government since its establishment in 1964.
