A Chinese tourist was killed after being hit by a car when crossing a road during a stop-off to buy souvenirs late on Tuesday night in south Thailand.
The collision took place at around 11:00 p.m local time in the southern Thailand province Phuket, when the 55-year-old man was walking together with a 20-member Chinese tourist group crossing the street to shop at a convenient store.
The group was on their way to Phuket airport to catch a flight. Their tour bus stopped on the roadside to allow them to buy goods.
Lu was the last person to leave the bus, straggling behind other tourists. He was hit and run over by a Volvo car with a Bangkok license. He was killed at the spot, Thai media reported.
Local media said that police has charged the car driver, aged 44, with reckless driving causing death.
Police said that the bus company was expected to compensate Lu's family.
Details of the accident are still under investigation.
