A young Chinese couple were murdered on Monday night in a rental house in the Nasr City in Cairo, a Chinese embassy official said. The murder occurred at around 10 p.m. on Monday, Zhang Zhizhong, director of the consular affairs of the Chinese embassy to Egypt, told Xinhua on Wednesday. The couple, from eastern China's Zhejiang Province, had been dealing with marble business in Egypt for several years. The husband, surnamed Chen, was 30 and his pregnant wife surnamed Zhu, was in her twenties. Local police said they were investigating the case. The autopsy has been finished and the results are expected to come out on Wednesday. Zhang visited the police branch in Nasr City on Tuesday afternoon and demanded a quick finding of the criminals. A police officer of the police branch in charge of criminal cases said the murder was cruel and that the Egyptian side will work hard to nab the suspects as early as possible. The bodies of the couple were in a hospital. Their relatives in China have been informed and will come to Egypt as early as Thursday. Since the beginning of the unrest in late January in Egypt, public security situation was deteriorating across the country with a sharp rise of robberies, thefts and criminal cases. Some Chinese who work in Egypt were also victims of various crimes.
