Eight female students and a bus supervisor were injured when their bus collided with six other vehicles on Al Raha Beach in Abu Dhabi towards Dubai.
The Abu Dhabi Traffic and Patrols Directorate said the crash occurred between a school bus, a pick-up and five other vehicles.
The incident took place on Sunday near Al Raha beach on the Abu Dhabi. The students suffered minor injuries.
Brigadier Salim Abdullah bin Barak Al Dhaheri, Director of Outer Region at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate said that the accident occurred as the vehicles failed to maintain safety distance between them.
He said that immediately after the tipoff, the traffic and ambulance patrols were rushed to the site. The injured were transferred to the hospital for treatment.
The injured children and the bus supervisor were transferred to hospital for treatment. The rest of the students were taken in a van.
Al Dhaheri has urged motorists to drive carefully and with extra caution while driving, especially during peak hours. He also advised them to leave sufficient distance between the vehicles.
