Ashour with his PSA trophy Cairo – Hossam Al Said Egypt's Ramy Ashour has been honoured as Professional Squash Association (PSA) Player of the Year for the second year in a row at the annual World Squash Awards. The presentation took place at the Grand Central Terminal in New York City. Ashour's fellow Egyptian Marwan el-Shorbagy, younger brother of Mohamed el-Shorbagy, received the PSA Young Player of Year award. Ashour, 25, enjoyed the best year of his professional career in 2012, becoming the first player for almost two decades to reach the final of all events he played in - winning five titles and capping the year by clinching the PSA World Championship crown for the second time and regaining the world number one ranking. After accepting his third Player of the Year award (2007, 2011), Ashour thanked everyone who had helped him regain the world number one spot. He also appealed to authorities in Egypt tO support the game in light of the global accomplishments made in Egypt's name.
