Jockey Douglas Whyte Hong Kong - Arab Today Akeed Mofeed swept to victory in the 2,000-metre Hong Kong Cup on Sunday the most prestigious event at the Longines Hong Kong International Races, one of the world's richest race meetings. The Hong Kong horse -- one of the favourites to win -- was ridden by champion jockey Douglas Whyte. "He's the real deal...he's stepped up to the game, which he needed to do and he's delivered," Whyte said after winning the Cup. Japanese horse Tokei Halo finished second with the French great Cirrus Des Aigles, the world's top racehorse a year ago, third. Fellow favourite Military Attack finished fourth. The HK$22 million ($2.84 million) Cup is the highlight of four Group One turf events at the annual meet, which Hong Kong won three of, and the richest turf race over 2,000 metres, with a first prize worth HK$12.54 million.
