The Foreign ministers of Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany have agreed to call for a strict implementation of the ceasefire agreement in eastern Ukraine.
The ministers met in Paris on Tuesday. This was their first face-to-face meeting since the truce took effect last week.
French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said after the talks that the four ministers are calling for the strict implementation of all provisions of the ceasefire agreement. He said these include a comprehensive ceasefire and the withdrawal of heavy weapons.
He also stressed the need to reinforce the ceasefire monitoring mission of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, including its personnel, equipment and authority.
Fabius urged all the parties concerned to fully allow the monitors to do their work.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said no political agreement had been reached on condemning the situation in the transport hub of Debaltseve or the violations of the ceasefire.
