The UNHRC should embark on measures to prevent Israel from further violating the rights of the Palestinian people, said a Kuwaiti diplomat here Tuesday.
Kuwait Permanent Delegate to the UN headquarters and international organizations in Geneva Ambassador Jamal Al-Ghunaim called on the UNHRC's special investigator into the Israeli actions in the West Bank and East Jerusalem Makarim Wibisono to take on vital measures to end Israel's violations against Palestinians.
Wibisono's report on the status of occupied lands had shown the dire situation in which the Palestinians are living under due to Israel's unjust acts, said Al-Ghunaim.
Kuwait's vow of support to the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip at the Cairo's donors' conference last year was recently fulfilled by Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development's (KFAED) USD 200 million grant for the Palestinian authority, said Al-Ghunaim who added that Kuwait will always support the right of Palestinians for an independent state within the 1967 borders.
