Jordanian peacekeeper killed in Darfur

Jordan 's Directorate of Public Security announced the death of Major Eng. Talal Rajoub , who was martyred today in Darfur while on an official duty within the international peacekeeping force there. The Jordanian Security Media Center said in a press statement that, Rajoub while on duty with a patrol of United Nations – African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) in south Darfur, an armed group fired at the direction of the patrol, which led to his death and the death of a Senegalese member of the patrol. The media center added that the UN mission in the Darfur region informed them about the incident and that investigation into its circumstances was commenced.
