Israeli occupation forces have detained up to 5,677 Palestinians since the outbreak of Al Quds Intifada (Uprising) last October, the Palestinian Commission of Detainees and ex-Detainees Affairs said.
The arrests have been reported in every place of the Palestinian territories, head of the commission Abdul-Nasser Ferwana told reporters.
Israeli authorities used the force to arrest people on daily basis to spread terror and panic among the Palestinian people, according to Ferwana.
The Palestinian official voiced deep concern over the physical and mental torture exercised by the occupation forces against all detainees.
He urged the international community to assume its responsibility by forcing Israel to stop its daily violations against the Palestinian people.
The occupied territories have been a scene of heightened tensions since August 2015, when Israel imposed restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem.
Hundreds of Palestinians, including children and women, have lost their lives at the hands of Israeli forces since last October.
