Israeli occupation forces (IOF) kidnapped at least 20 Palestinians across the occupied East Jerusalem in predawn raids this Friday due to security measures for the Jewish holiday of Passover.
According to the Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Silwan (Silwanic), in Jerusalem, the IOF invaded and violently searched many homes in the Old city, interrogated many Palestinians and kidnapped twenty.
Local sources identified those detained in East Jerusalem early Friday as:
1-Mahmoud Dweik — whose wedding was scheduled to take place Friday;
2-Omar al-Zaanin;
3-Thaer Zghayyar;
4-Ahmad al-Hashlamun;
5-Muhammad Najib;
6-Ahmad Rajabi;
7-Mumen Hashim;
8-Ahmad Badriyyeh;
9-Mamun Ghaith;
10-Muhammad al-Shalabi;
11-Ahmad al-Bayyumi;
12-Muhammad Ziyad;
13-Muhammad Jaber;
14-Ahmad al-Shawish;
15-Mahmoud al-Shawish;
16-Ibrahim al-Natsheh;
17-Munir al-Ajliouni;
18-Amjad Abu Snineh;
19-Muhammad Bayyumi;
20-Ahmad Abu Ghazaleh.
Israeli police in Jerusalem announced tightened security measures in a statement Friday morning for the Jewish Passover holiday, with extra police units deployed in public areas and an emphasis on occupied East Jerusalem’s Old City.
In addition, the IOF implemented complete closures on crossings in the occupied West Bank and in the Gaza Strip for Palestinians during the Jewish holiday.
The closure began midnight Thursday and is to be in effect until midnight Saturday.
