US Secretary of State John Kerry said he expects a decision about the resumption of the US aid to Egypt very soon.
Speaking at a press conference at the Egypt Economic Development Conference on Saturday, Kerry said the conference is a significant step as it focuses more on the private sector, underscoring the importance of supporting businesses and crating a favorable investment atmosphere.
He praised the countries that provided financial aid to the Egyptian government. However, he said that in the long run no economy can depend on financial aid.
The US diplomat said that Washington backs sustainable economic development in Egypt with millions of dollars, noting that the US is the second biggest foreign investor in Egypt with USD 2.2 billion.
