Housing Minister Basem bin Yaqoub Al-Hamer said that the Ministry had awarded the relevant tenders for construction of islands 13 and 14 infrastructure, roads, electricity and water networks in the Northern City at a total cost of BD 11.9 million.
The Minister added that at the same time the Ministry has almost finished appraisal of bids submitted for the tender regarding construction of two causeways to link islands 13 and 14: one causeway allocated for motorists and the other for pedestrians.
He said that the infrastructure construction tender which had been awarded will serve the housing units included in the partnership agreement with the private sector for implementation of 1618 social housing unit 13. The project construction is scheduled to be completed in 18 months from the date of starting implementation which begins early next year (2015).
