Trade and Industry Minister Munir Fakhry Abdel Nour said on Monday that Egypt seeks to increase the Egyptian exports to the US market through reinstating the generalized system of preferences (GSP).
The GSP system, which was suspended more than one year ago, will open new outlets for the Egyptian exports to the US market, the minister said during his meeting with Deputy Under-Secretary of the U.S Department of Commerce Kenneth E. Hyatt.
The US official is visiting Egypt leading a delegation of representatives of eight US companies to discuss investment opportunities in Egypt and building partnership with a number of Egyptian companies working in the field of medical devices.
"The trade ties between Egypt and the US are strategic and should be built on mutual interest," Abdel Nour added.
He stressed that there are several chances to boost cooperation between the two countries.
