Luca Rossi, Chinese technology giant Lenovo's president for Latin America, said Argentina will become the company's third most important market in the region and highlighted its growth prospects, local media reported on Monday.
"We have been in Argentina for several years but obviously we know that we can do much more," Rossi told local daily Cronista Commercial.
In terms of the potential market size, Rossi said Argentina could stay in the third place along with Colombia in one or two years. "We are very confident and very open to invest in this market."
"Opening the (Argentinean) market will be very good for the consumers. They will be able to buy better computers for less money," added Rossi.
Rossi said that in 2015, there was a downturn in the PC market worldwide. "However, Lenovo's philosophy is not to reduce our volume but to gain market share."
"In Latin America, this year we gained a lot of market share and we are in second place, but soon we will be the number one," added Rossi.
Lenovo is China's leading personal computer maker. The Beijing-based company bought Motorola from Google in October 2014 soon after its purchase of IBM's low-end server business as part of a strategy of broadening the business beyond PCs.
