All samples taken from the Nile water after a vessel sank yesterday with 500 tons of phosphate on board were tested negative, said Health Minister Adel Adawi on Sunday.
In an official statement by the health ministry, Adawi said that water samples were taken from the sinking scene and drinking water purification plants in the Upper Egyptian governorate of Qena.
The samples were sent to the central laboratory in Cairo for tests, the minister noted.
He asserted that the Nile water will not be polluted because the phosphate cargo is insoluble.
