The Shura Council’s main committee, in its meeting on Sunday chaired by the Council’s Speaker Abdul-Rahman Ali Othman, discussed a report on the National Dialogue Conference (NDC) “ the project of hope”. The report, which was prepared by a special committee from the Shura’s members participating in the NDC, dealt with the role of the Council in the initialization for holding the NDC through carrying out intellectual and political activities within the Council, civil society organizations and studies and research centers. The report considered that what has been achieved so far by the dialogue conference is calling for optimism, as it is moving according to the terms of the Gulf initiative, but the most important still related to the constitutional outputs ,upon which drafting of the new constitution is based. For his part, Othman considered the launching of the NDC three months ago under the chairmanship of President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi a defining moment in the second phase of the transitional period and a center of local, regional and international interest and a source of hope for moving out from the problems of the past by the future. In his speech at the opening of the meeting, Othman pointed out that the pinned hopes on the outputs of the NDC ensures the unity, security and stability of Yemen and building its modern civil state. He pointed to the role of the Council in the pre-initialization for the conference through the Council meetings in 2012.
