Yemeni Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Abdulmalak Al Mikhlafi stated that the Yemeni government is extending hands of peace for all Yemeni parties to restore security and stability and stop bloodshed in the country.
In a speech at the first meeting of the negotiating teams after the resumption of intra-Yemeni talks in Kuwait Saturday, Al Mikhlafi said that Yemen's political leadership, represented in the Yemeni President, Prime Minister and pro-legitimacy political parties, are committed to peace, Kuwait's official news agency (KUNA) reported.
The political leadership has instructed the negotiating team to partake in the "last chance" peace talks according to the agreed main reference points including the UN resolutions, the Gulf initiative and its mechanisms as well as the outcome of national dialogue, he said.
He hoped the new round of talks would lead to a real progress on the main files.
"Unfortunately, the confidence-building measures agreed previously have not been implemented, so we hope that discussions in this round would abide by a timetable especially with regards to the issues of ceasefire, releasing of prisoners, ending the siege imposed on cities and putting into effect the UN resolution No. 2016 related to the withdrawal of armed forces and handing over of weapons and restoring state institutions," he said.
For his part, Ansarullah Movement Spokesman Mohammad Abdulsalam said that joining the new round of talks comes in respect of the previous agreements and in appreciation of the State of Kuwait as well as out of full desire for peace and stability in Yemen.
