A special committee to monitor encroachments on government properties from Makkah’s Sharaie municipality has removed a number of structures and buildings that were illegally constructed without any ownership deeds. Khaled bin Abdullah Sindi, chairman of the municipality, said his officials removed 13 such illegal constructions, including two enclosures in the 11th residential plot covering 1,200 square meters and two encroachments in Aseela covering 7,000 square meters. He said his officers also found a similar encroachment in Muaisem as encroachers had constructed an enclosure half a meter high and 20 meters long. “Our personnel also prevented an attempt to encroach upon a government property covering an area of 6 million square meters northwest of Aseela,” the chairman said. He said the municipality would continue its efforts to remove illegal constructions on government lands, adding that it would impose fines on violators.
